M for mixed (MBL learning methodology)

1. Traditional and Paper

Conditions:

  • You need human interaction
  • You have already planned a conference room
  • You have already your courses
  • The courses are adapted to the needs of the participants
  • You need immediate responses

Good:

  • Training room is fully equipped.
  • You receive a return on your investment.
  • Already a long experience.
  • Well organised.

Be aware:

  • Today having only classes with Paper is not enough to get efficiency and motivation.
  • Participants forget very quickly. It is more heavy to organise assesements.
  • Where do the participants keep their Paper(s)?
  • Costs for accommodation and travelling are still high.

2. Traditional and CBT (Computer Based Training)

Conditions:

  • You have already planned a conference room
  • Pre-designed CD-Rom's as support material
  • Content is already invested
  • Easier subject matter experts for case studies

Good:

  • No constant human interaction
  • Cost effective
  • Reusable courses

Be aware:

  • But are the participants using the CD-Rom after 6 months?
  • Do they keep track on up-dates?
  • Can the enterprise control the efficiency on the participants?
  • High cost factor for shipment and tracking


3. WBT (Web Based Training) and Live (on-line live eLearning)


Conditions:

  • Every participant must have access to Internet
  • Multimedia PC (headset or microphone and earphones)
  • A subcription form on-line
  • Standardising the browser to all participants and the enterprise

Good:

  • Very cost effective (maximum 90' per session)
  • Anywhere at any time (outside office hours)
  • Keep track (statistics) on the levels of participants
  • Resolve questions in a user friendly matter
  • One moderator can test thousands of participants

Be aware:

  • Are the participants willing to follow live eLearning sessions outside office hours ?
  • Are the participants familiar with the Internet applications?
  • Are the participants ready to accept assessments on-line?
